1. Header Tags

Header tags are generally HTML tags that helps the browser to understand what styling should be used to display the text on a webpage.

So, here is the example how header tag looks in HTML.

Like headings in advertisement or print content, header tags are just like the same it is just like a title of a content that helps to introduce the content in brief or a short line. HTML header tags follow a hierarchy, from <h1> to <h6>.

H1 tags are used for the most important text of a content, such as the main theme or title/heading of a content.

H2 and H3 tags are commonly used as subheadings.

Lastly, H4, H5, and H6 tags may be used to give further structure within those subsections.

Important Point: We should use the H1 tag once per page because the H1 tag helps Google understand the structure of the page. Be sure that your H1 tag also contains your target keyword of the content.

2. Sitemap Checkup

To check the sitemap, you need an XML file to check robots.txt.

Robots.txt is an important file that contains directives for search engine robots. This is also the place which includes the link to the sitemap to make it easier for search engines to detect the sitemap and crawl the website.

To view the robots.txt file of any website, simply add /robots.txt to the domain. In the case of our website, it’s http://appsomatic.net/robots.txt.

3. Mobile-Friendliness Test

In 2015, Google said that mobile friendliness would soon be a ranking factor for searches made on mobile devices. When you consider that Google is now prioritising mobile-first indexing, it’s clear that your website must be mobile-friendly to rank. To detect issues and select them for correction, run your website or a specific URL using Google’s Mobile-Friendly Testing Tool.

4. Canonical Checkup

Canonicalization is the process of determining the main or actual URL address for subsequent indexing by Google search engine. It is important to use canonical meta tag in conjunction to 301 redirections to the actual URL address. You can quickly resolve duplicate content issues with this attribute.

To check your website Canonical, here are steps to follow:

  • Go to your website and click CTRL+U.
  • After, the page opens click CTRL+F to find your canonical.
  • And check whether it is connected to the actual web page or not.

5. URL Checkup

Many times, we tend to make the mistake of creating our URL too long or with multiple errors. Web page URLs must be short and crisp, including rich keyword in it, use only the target keyword at the beginning of the URL. Try to avoid long cluttered URLs, as short URLs are proven to rank better in search engine results. For example, if you are writing about different types of cupcakes then your website URL should be yourwebsite.com/10-best-cupcakes-recipes/ and should include keyword which is more SEO friendly than yourwebsite.com/10-best-types-of-cupcakes-out-there.

6. Meta data Checkup

Meta Data is the short description of your content, which contains the targeted keyword or keyword phrase, and it should be around 150-155 characters in length. And, if your meta description contains or matches the exact keyword the user is searching for, it will become bold in search results. To check whether your title and meta description is meeting the google guidelines, use totheweb to check your website.

If you can add open graphs properly, it will make your content look good, allowing it to receive more clicks, likes, and shares from user. However, social media does not directly impact the search results. 7. Images Checkup

Checking up the images in your website is important because it directly impacts the page load speed. Resize images that are not appropriate. This tool identifies any image on your page that is too large and lead to decreased page load speeds. Next, correct them with proper resize images.

Important Point:

  • Always use original images because using unique images on your website does have a positive impact on organic web rankings as well as image rankings. If you use stock images in your website, take pictures and create your own custom images for uniqueness.
  • Include Images on Every Page: Images, videos and other multimedia helps to attract the audience to stay on your site and reduce bounce rate, which are the two important factors for website rankings.
  • The use of images will help you to break up your content and you can include your targeted keywords in your image’s alt tag. We tend to overlook the optimization of image file name, make sure to include a brief description of your image in the file name as well.

 

8. Internal Linking

An internal link is any link that links your website’s one page to another page on your website. Users and search engines use links to find content in your website. And internal Linking also help user to navigate and discover new content in your website. Search engines also use links to navigate your site. They won’t see a page if there are no links to it.

10. Page Speed
